Department of Agribusiness of IPB organized the Soehardjo Agribusiness Lecture (SAL)

 In order to promote the Masa Pengenalan Departemen (MPD – Orientation Program) of the  Department) of Agribusiness of the Faculty of Economics and Management of Bogor Agricultural University (FEM IPB) for  the new student Batch  52, the Himpunan Profesi Mahasiswa Peminat Agribisnis (HIPMA – the Association of professional agribusiness students) and the Department of Agribusiness organized the Soehardjo Agribusiness Lecture (SAL), on Wednesday, 24 August 2016, at IPB Mandiri Auditorium, Campus IPB, Bogor. One of the itinerary for  the  SAL Program is the public lectures, for the present SAL  Prof. Dr. Bungaran Saragih was invited to present his lecture.

 

In his presentation Prof Saragih described that agriculture provides most of the world’s food and fabrics, farming has enormous impacts on the world’s most critical resources. Further, he explained that agribusiness involves all the steps required to send an agricultural good to market: production, processing, and distribution. Thus, agriculture can not be separated from the upstream, downstream and supporting services, therefore we need a system called agribusiness system. Agribusiness is important instrument for agricultural development,  businessmen is its initiator. "You create your own future," he said.

 

The existence of the Department of Agribusiness is expected to produce high competitiveness graduates for the multi variant of both local and international employment markets. The next item of the program was resource sharing with alumni of Agribusiness Department namely Megan Andriani (AGB 45) of the Badan Koordinasi Penanaman Modal (BKPM Investment Coordinating Board), and Iqbal Yudhanan (AGB 46) of the Otoritas Jasa Keuangan (Financial Services Authority).  (Wied).
