Thousands of IPB Alumni to Clean up Bogor City

Thousands of alumni of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) as members of the Alumni Association (HA) of IPB in collaboration with the Ministry of Environment and Forests (KLHK) in Nusantara Green Action Program (AHN) 2016 will take a Bogor cleaning-up action. This was said by Secretary General of HA-IPB, Nelly Oswiny, in Bogor, on Monday (25/7).

 

In the 2016 AHN, IPB alumni known as the Hygiene Volunteers will carry out the cleaning-up of Bogor City on Sunday, July 31, 2016 starting at 06.00 in the morning, centered on the Yard of Kodim 0606, Bogor City. While cleaning up, all the volunteers will also encourage people to adopt environmentally friendly lifestyle as well as disseminate procedures for waste management with the principles of Biopori and the 3Rs (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle).

 

"The main goal of this program is a change of lifestyle among children, students, young people and people of Bogor to practice environmentally friendly lifestyle," said Nelly.

 

Nelly added that the purpose of AHN is to support the achievement of a healthy and green lifestyle among people in Bogor, reduce the use of plastic, bottles, Styrofoam and disposable materials in Bogor. "We want to inspire the younger generation to keep the environment in appreciation, expression, and exploration of the earth potential," said Nelly.

 

Minister of Environment and Forestry, Siti Nurbaya, is scheduled to attend along with the Mayor of Bogor, IPB Rector, IPB alumni and the public. All participants and volunteers will get the eco-bags containing drinking water, snacks, t-shirts, and educational materials that can be propagated back to the public. AHN 2016 is enlivened by the presence of environmental artists such as Nugie, Alumni Band and others.

 

Various activities going along with AHN 2016 are as follows:

1. Greening:  planting of fruit trees and shade trees in the city of Bogor.

2. Healthy biking: cycling to maintain fitness and health on the Yard of Kodim 0606 Bogor.

3. Plastic operation: exchanging plastic bags and cleaning up plastic waste at DPD HA-IPB throughout Indonesia.

4. Biopori: digging biopori holes in Kodim 0606 of Bogor.

5. AHN Expo: exhibition of various product of recycled waste on the Yard of Kodim 0606 Bogor. ***
