Go-Global for Alumni Association of Faculty of Fisheries and Maine Science of IPB
The growth of the national economy slowed considerably due to the slow growth of the real sector as contributor to total GDP, some of which are fisheries and marine products. Professionals and working staff especially alumni of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) of Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB – Bogor Agricultural University) believe that this sector is set to become one of the major driving forces of the national economy. This statement was raised by the newly appointed chairman of Alumni Association (HA) of FPIK period 2016 to 2020, Ir Abdul Aziz, MBA, in the inauguration of the executive boards of the Association in Auditorium FPIK Soemardi Sastrakusumah, IPB Campus, Dramaga, Bogor. The inauguration was attended by more than 60 newly appointed executive boards of HA FPIK IPB, one of whom was former Minister of BUMN RI, Ir. Mustafa Abubakar, MM.
In this special occasion, the Chairman of HA-FPIK IPB who is also the Commissioner of Bank Mandiri expressed his point of view that the HA of FPIK IPB is ready to synergize with the Indonesian government in boosting the competitiveness of the fisheries sector at a global level. "Indonesia should play a significant role in driving national economic growth through Fisheries and Marine of IPB. The contribution of alumni of Fisheries and Marine Science of IPB will be influential for the development of fisheries sector in Indonesia, "he said.
Global competition demands variety of requirements and competencies of its human resources. Accordingly, the HA of FPIK IPB as the association of educated human resources will become the scientific organization that play important role and ready to compete in the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and globalization. "HA of FPIK IPB will strengthen the skills of its alumni through the revival of the competence and adaptive skilled for the development of fisheries and maritime affairs," he said.
Finally, the meeting had formulated several strategic programs including the establishment of the council leadership of the region, as well as fostering new alumni to encourage entrepreneurship and marine fisheries. To strengthen its social existence the HA of FPIK IPB will provide funding support for the best students of small islands and coastal regions. To celebrate the anniversary of IPB, HA of FPIK IPB will cooperate with the Faculty to promote the "Ruaya", it is the Fisheries Expo and the alumni gathering as well. It is expected that HA of FPIK IPB will strengthen the relationships and kinships of its members to contribute the development of fisheries and marine of Indonesia. (Wied)
