LPPM of IPB Held the Training of Companion Staff for Soybean Development

Institute for Research and Community Services (LPPM), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) in collaboration with Directorate General of Food Crops, Ministry of Agriculture of RI, held “Pelatihan Tenaga Pendamping: Pengembangan Kedelai di Lahan Pasang Surut dengan Teknologi Budidaya Jenuh Air (BJA) / Training on Companion Staff: Soybean Development in Tidal Land with Cultivation Technology of Saturated Water”. The activity that took place for  two days, was officially opened by Head of LPPM of IPB, Dr. Prastowo, in  Meeting Room of Academic Senate, Andi Hakim Nasoetion Building, Campus of IPB Darmaga Bogor, Monday (28/3).
 
Dr. Prastowo said, this training was very important to increase the soybean production with the development technology of BJA. According to him, there were five integrated steps toward the self-sufficiency of national soybean, namely the technolgy boosting the productivity (one of them with the technology of BJA), the provision of seed, the land supply, the adequate market, and the repair of trade system. 
 
Director of Cultivation of Assorted Nuts and Tubers, Ministry of Agriculture of RI, Dr. Maman Suherman, conveyed, the current national soybean cultivation was very heavy and having many challenges, especially in the development of soybean production. “The Application of Technology of BJA hopefully can be received by the soybean farmers in Indonesia,” he said.
 
Meanwhile, Chairman of Executive Team of Soybean Development in Tidal Land with Technology of BJA, Prof.Dr. Memen Surahman, said, the primacy of saturated water aquaculture in the tidal area was to be able to produce the soy in a large amount and to increase the income of soybean farmers. 
 
“The result of this training will be applied and developed in the farmer’s tidal land such as in the area of Lampung, Jambi, South Sumatra, South Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, and Central Kalimantan,” he explained.
 
This training was followed by 14 companions of field, 26 Agricultural Extensions of Field (PPL) of six provinces, seven coordinators of companions, and six PIC of field.(awl)
