Faculty of Animal Husbandry of Bogor Agricultural University Initiated to Establish the Graduate Studies Program on Farm Logistics

Faculty of Animal Husbandry of Bogor Agricultural University (FAPET IPB) is in the process to initiate the Graduate Studies on Farm Logistics. For the development of the newly established  Graduate Studies Program, IPB will cooperate with the Netherlands. This statement was stated by the Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Dr. Moh. Yamin, in the opening ceremony of the "Workshop on Farm Logistics for Food Security of Indonesia". The event was held at the Faculty of Animal Husbandry, Dramaga Campus, Bogor, on Monday, 14 March 2016.
 
According to the Dean, Graduate Studies on Farm Logistics is indispensable for the Indonesian communities. The establishment of new courses, he explained, will enable the Faculty of Animal Husbandry of IPB to expand its research programs related to farm logistics. 
 
This workshop was participated by various participants from various elements, namely academia, business, government representatives and community members of the Forum Logistik Peternak Indonesia (FLPI – Forum Farm Logistics of Indonesia), chaired by Prof. Dr. Luki Abdullah. The workshop was organized coincide with the launching of website and newsletter FLPI.
 
As chairman of FLPI, Prof. Luki Abdullah, stated that  FLPI will become the official  forum for cooperation between government, business and communities on farm logistics. He added that this forum will help to improve the security and safety of livestock products, seeking ways to improve the efficiency of the value of the products, as well as to recommend  appropriate policies for the government on farm logistics, especially for poultry and ruminant.
 
With regard to the farm logistics, Director for Processing and Marketing of Livestock, of the  Ministry of Agriculture, Ir. Fini Murfiani, MSI, informed that currently  the government has acquired the special ship transporting cattle. This Seagoing vessels modified or purpose-hansing carry built for the transportation of live animals. The acquisition of the special ship is intended to support meet sufficiency program of the government, as well as to  facilitate and distribution of livestock. 
 
Presented in the workshop facts on the fodder logistics in Indonesia by the Chairman of the Association of Nutrition and Feed Indonesia, who is also Professor of IPB, Prof. Dr. Nahrowi. (Wied)
