Tanoto Forestry Information Center of Faculty of Forestry of IPB

Director General of Strengthening Research and Development, Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education of Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Muhamad Dimyati,  inaugurated Tanoto Forestry Information Center, Faculty of Forestry, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) in Campus of IPB Darmaga Bogor, Monday (21/12). The symbolic inauguration was marked by the planting of trees and the shearing of strands of jasmine.

 

Dr. Muhamad Dimyati said, “The forest which is beautiful and sustainable is a form of landscape which has a tremendous role and function, in providing the benefit and the welfare for the people and living creature around. Carrying out the function of conservation, the forest is a place of flora and fauna breeding naturally, so that the forest should really be protected, preserved and maintained with the full responsibility. With the presence of Tanoto Forestry Information Center in Campus of IPB, this is a breakthrough and a new hope for the world of forestry in Indonesia to continue to grow and be well maintained”.

 

Meanwhile, Rector of IPB, Prof.Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto, said, “On behalf of IPB it is said thanks and highest appreciation to the leaders of Tanoto Foundation that have consistently provided the support for higher education in Indonesia, especially in IPB”. 

 

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Tanoto Foundation, Sukanto Tanoto, explained, “The building of Tanoto Forestry Information Center which is the result of cooperation with the Faculty of Forestry of IPB is expected to be the leading the forestry information center. Furthermore, it can provide the forestry information through the electronic journals, support a wide range of forest-related research as well as be a liaison network of experts in the national and international forestry”.

 

Laying of the first stone of the development of Tanoto Forestry Information Center was carried out on 28 November 2012 by Vice Rector for Research and Cooperation of IPB, Prof.Dr. Anas Miftah Fauzi. The three-storey building facilities included the discussion room, the library, the audio visual room and the room for the activity of professional association student of IPB. The partnership of Tanoto Foundation and IPB did not stop at the development of the building of Tanoto Forestry Information Center, but it would continue in the next facility utilization.

 

Attending this occasion among others Head of Research and Development and Innovation, Ministry of  Environment and Forestry of RI, Dr. Henry Bastaman; Chairman of the Board of Trustees (MWA) of IPB, Prof.Dr. M.A. Chozin; Chairman of Academic Senate (SA) IPB, Prof.Dr. Tridoyo Kusumastanto; Secretary of the Board of Professors (DGB) IPB, Prof.Dr. Muh. Yusram Massijaya; and Dean of Faculty of Forestry of IPB, Dr. Rinekso Soekmadi. (awl)
