Research Institutions under the LPPM IPB Enriched the National Science Centers

To foster the professional development of  Research and Development (R & D), the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) RI organized the Workshop " Penguatan Kelembagaan Iptek  (Institutional Strengthening of Science and Technology) 2015", on Friday,  16 October 2015, at Hotel Royal, Bogor. One day prior to the opening of the workshops, on 15 October 2015,  the Science Center was officially opened at the Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (Beautiful Indonesia in Miniature). The objective of the Workshop was to promote the Science Center where the result research programs will be displayed to the public and businessmen. 
 
To make the downstream commercial activities of R&D come true is the  theme for the present program. The Director General of Higher Education for Science and Technology Institution, Dr. Patdono Suwignjo, in his opening remarks stated that people’s expectations to the higher learning institutions (Perguruan Tinggi) is increasing.
 
"At the beginning public entrusted the universities to educate their sons and daughters, and then the universities were expected to be the  agent of research, and finally they are expected to be an agent of economic development. Their economy develop expectations will be  formulated through  the utilizations of the university’ research results. Accordingly, steps have to be taken to solve the constrains to make their research programs to be commercialized, "said Dr. Patdono
 
This ideas were responded by the Bogor City Government as stated by the Regional Secretary (Secretary) of Bogor, Ade Sarip Hidayat. "People are encouraged to know the Science Centers, not only the institutions but also their research results. It is important to improve the awareness of the communities on the  research results, as  they do not prioritize research results in the their life, "said Secretary.
 
"We proud to say that out of 27 Science Centers, 8 of them are located in Bogor. Those centers are the contribution of IPB (Bogor Agricultural University)," added the Secretary. Those Science Centers, I am sure, will improve the tourism potentialities of  Bogor, the Secretary said. 
 
Coincided with this special occasion, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Science Centers with partner companies were signed. Centers under the Institute of Research and Community Empowerment of IPB (LPPM) that signed the MoU are: (1).   Center for Tropical Horticulture (PKHT); (2). Center for Biofarmaka (PSB); (3). Center for the Primate Study (USDP); and (4) Research Center for Surfactant and Bioenergy (SBRC) (Wied)
