The Association of Alumni (HA) of the Graduate School on Rural and Regional Planning of Bogor Agricultural University (SPS PWD-IPB) held the Inauguration members of the National Organizational Structures of HAPWD for 2015-2018 at the Gedung Himpunan Alumni IPB, Bogor, on Saturday, 19 September 2015. Collective leadership of HAPWD for 2015-2018 arre Dr. M. Jafar Hafsah, Dr. Harry Santoso and Dr. Hery Margono, who will alternately lead the Association for one year period.
 
The first itinerary of the program was panel discussion on "Membangun Indonesia dari Desa (Villages for the development of Indonesia)", and after the inauguration of the Organizing Committee of the HAPWD period 2015-2018, then the Committee organized its first Work Meeting. SPS PWD of IPB is the first post-graduate program on Rural and Regional Planning in Indonesia. In this programs the graduate students  learn epistemology-based of   social and the exact sciences. 
 
Dr. Harry Santoso explained that Graduate Program on Rural and Regional Planning of IPB this year has celebrated its 35th Anniversary, so far it has produced Master degree holders (S2) and Doctorate holders (S3) who are active in  various profession both in the private sector, government bureaucracy, legislature, education, research programs, and members of  political parties in district / municipal, provincial, national and international. They have  contributed positively and participated significantly in the development of  the nation. 
 
Up to now, the total number of alumni SPS PWD IPB is about 300, they have organized its First National Meeting (National Conference) on 4 June 2015 in Bogor, during which the Statutes / Bylaws of the Association, the Work Programs, and the Organizing Committee of the Alumni Association Graduate Science Regional and Rural Development Planning (HAPWD) of IPB for 2015-2018 period were established. In addition, the First Annual Meeting had also selected members of its National Organizational Structure, outlined its Annual Work Programs, and Proposed code of ethics and its strategic plan for 2015-2018.
 
Furthermore, Dr. Harry said that vision of  HAPWD is to formulate the significant role of the alumni PWD IPB as rural and regional development planners for Indonesia professionally and with integrity. 
 
Dr.Harry added that the HAPWD mission is to channelize the aspirations of the alumni to encourage and to accelerate the  rural and regional development of Indonesia, in improving the quality of human resources (HR), professionalism and competence of the alumni. In addition, the HAPWD plan to provide academic services to the stakeholders, maintaining the cooperation of various parties inside and outside the country, as well as to be the active partner of IPB alumni communities.
 
Align with the direction of government policy to develop villages and regions as the central point in national development in the future, thus vision and missions of HAPWD as part of IPB alma mater, is to develop the important role of alumni SPS PWD IPB significantly as policy makers, tough planners and actors of rural and regional development. They must be professional and integrity for the nation’s progress and improving the welfare of the Indonesian people with justice. (Wied)
