The Signing of MoU Between IPB with Kotawaringin Timur Regency

Kotawaringin Timur Regency had signed the MoU with IPB (Bogor Agriculture University), on Tuesday,  1 September 2015/9) at the Andi Hakim Nasoetion building, Dramaga Campus, Bogor. The objective of signing of this MoU is to develop  Kotawaringin Timur to be “lumbung padi” (rice belt) in 2016. The signatories for the MoU were the Regional Secretary of  Kotawaringin Timur, Mr. Putu Sudarsana, SH and Vice Rector for Facilities and Business of IPB, Dr. Arif Imam Suroso.

 

Putu Sudarsana expected that by signing the MoU IPB will immediately assign its  experts to conduct research to development agriculture, fisheries, and forestry of the said areas. "It is expected that the Kotawaringin Timur Regency will be able to implement its food self-sufficiency program, especially rice," he added.

 

According to him, IPB as a leading university in agriculture in Indonesia will assist the government to solve food security problems in Indonesia. It was proved by the invention of 3S rice varieties that produce nine tons per hectare.

 

Yet, Vice Rector for Facilities and Business of IPB, Dr. Arif Imam Suroso, stated, "IPB has a strong commitment to assist the government to solve the food security problem in Indonesia. Accordingly, IPB will also assist Kotawaringin Timur Regency to realize its master plans. IPB will assist the Government of Kotawaringin Timur Regency to develop its sustainable agriculture ".

 

Attending the signing MoU between Kotawaringin Timur Regency and IPB were the Director of Cooperation and International Programs of IPB, Dr. Edi Hartulistioso; Business Development Director of IPB, Dr. Yusli Wardiatno; and President Director of PT. Prima Kelola Agribisnis Agroindustri of IPB Ir. Sulistianawati, MP (Wied)
