Khoirul Umam officially becomes IPB Green Environment Ambasador (IGEA) of 2015. The inauguration of Khoirul as Environmental Ambassadors of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) was conducted on the yard of Graha Widya Wisuda, Graduation Building, Dramaga Campus, Bogor, Sunday (7/6). The studentsof the Faculty of Agricultural Technology (Fateta) managed to beat 27 other finalists from nine Faculties and Diploma Programs of IPB.
IGEA 2015 raises the theme "Use of Reusable Bags in Responding to Climate Change". It is an event that has been twice carried out by the Ministry of Environment, Student Executive Body of Family Student (BEM KM) IPB. After undergoing quarantine for three months, the finalists of IGEA 2015 appeared in public in the 2015 IGEA peak on Sunday.
The Green Ambasador of 2014, also Chairman of the Committee IGEA 2015, Khoirul Umam (student of the Department of Aquaculture, Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences) said after his election as the Environment Ambassador he will automatically become the chairman of the environment-lover community.
"His job is how to encourage every cafeteria in IPB to use less plastic by providing eco bags sold cheap. We want to create this culture, thus reducing the use of plastic," he said.
On this occasion, one of the judges inIGEA 2015, Dr. Hangesti, also announced the best Faculty and Student Activity Unit (UKM) that have kept environment clean. For faculty category, the first champion is won by the Faculty of Agriculture. And for the Student Activity Unit category, the first position was won by UKM “Indonesian Green Action Forum (IGAF), and the second and third were respectively by UKM “Kemaki” and UKM Football.
