Welfare Council of Mosque (DKM) Al-Hurriyyah, Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) held a training of Hajj and Umrah 2015 in the Meeting Room 1 of Mosque Al-Hurriyyah, Dramaga Campus, Friday (15/5). The training with the theme "The Virtues of Remembrance and Prayer in the practice of Hajj and Umrah" presented Dr. Abdul Munif, lecturer of Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agriculture, IPB.
Dr. Munif explains, "Dzikir (Remembrance) and doa (prayer) are daily activities that should always be practiced in the Hajj and Umrah. Dzikir in terms of the Shari’a is the remembrance of Allah SWT in order to get closer to Him. We are commanded to remember God, always remember His power and greatness to avoid the disease arrogance. Meanwhile, the meaning of doa is to request something or seek refuge with Allah SWT. Remembrance and prayer can be done in various ways and in any circumstances, except in places that are not in accordance with the holiness of God, such as glorifying and praising God in WC (water closet room) ".
It is said, remembrance could be done by heart (silently), thinking about God’s creation in such awareness that God is the One who has power. Furthermore, spoken or verbal remembrance, that is, by uttering words of the names of God, which have been taught by the Prophet to his people, for example, words to glorify, praise, express the oneness of God, pray Prophet, as well to recite the Qur’an and etc. Finally, the act of remembrance by doing, practicing what has commanded by God and avoiding evil. "What to keep in mind is that all practices should be based intention. The intention for such deeds is to get the pleasure of Allah SWT (the God the Most High) Thus, studying, working as livelihood, visiting others and other practices commanded by the religion are the forms of remembrance by doing,” explained Dr. Munif.
Therefore, in the Hajj and Umrah, remembrance and prayer should be practiced by each of the pilgrims. Starting the praying with saying basmalah or in the Name of Allah or God (doing good deeds should be initiated with basmalah), hamdalah (Praise be to Allah) and solawat (Peace be to the Prophet). While praying, we raise both hands and wipe both hands on the face after the prayer; the most importance is your prayer is accompanied by a humble heart and belief that the prayer is granted by Allah SWT, explains Dr. Munif.
