IPB’s Graduate Students Stage an Indonesian Postgraduate Student Conference Thursday, April 16, 2015
Graduate Student Forum of Bogor Agricultural University (Forum Wacana IPB) held an Indonesia Postgraduate Student Conference (IPSC) with the theme "Measuring Leadership for Indonesian Welfare" in Bogor City Hall on Sunday (12/4). This conference was initiated to accommodate the aspirations and contributions of students in Indonesia in making a solution framework to various problems of the people through a critical and positive reasoning power.
The event, attended by some 127 graduate students from a number of universities such as Bandung Institute of Technologfy (ITB), Surabaya Institute of Technology (ITS), University of Indonesia (UI), Universitas Brawijaya (UB), Gadjah Mada University (UGM), University of Diponegoro, State University of Jakarta (UNJ), University of Juanda (Unida), and others, lasted for one full day from 08:00 until 21:00 pm. It was opened by the Committee Chairman of Mujiburrahman, SE and would produce a draft to be submitted to the executive and legislative branches, particularly those policy-makers so that the policies would lead to the welfare of the nation, he said.
Chairman of Forum Wacana IPB, Luthfi Nur’azkiya, SP said that the draft resulting from the conference is in the form of an academic paper of scientific outputs which will be used by the students in the implementation of the University Tri Dharma (Three Major Responsibilities)
Meanwhile, Dean of the Graduate School of IPB, Dr. Dahrul Syah said that many things can be realized through this step, "This is expected to give birth to the best officials who have long-term thinking about the next generation. It means there will be statesmen, not politicians who only think about the next election," said Dr. Dahrul Syah in his speech.
This conference invited Prof. Dr. Jimly Asshiddiqie as a keynote speaker, in addition to other presenters discussing various hot topics in this country both in agriculture, economics, law and politics, maritime, energy and minerals, and education. For agricultural topics, this event invited Dr. Anton Apriyanto, Dr.drh. Hasim Danuri, DEA, and Dr. Rachmat Pambudy. For economic topics there were Dr. Ichsanuddin Noorsy as the speaker. For legal and political topics, the spekaers were Prof. Dr. Jimly Asshiddiqi and Prof. Dr. R. Siti Zuhro. Then Prof. Dr Indra Jaya and Dr. Y. Paonganan for the maritime topics, Prof. Dr Mukhtasir for the topics of energy and minerals, and Prof. Dr Didi Suryadi for the topic of education. (Mtd)
