During the interviews and presentations in the selection held on Thursday (2/4), Director of Student Affairs, Dr. Rinekso explained that there  have been a series of selection in the Departments and Expertise Programs. Each department sends delegates for futher screening at the Faculty level. Then, each Faculty takes one student representative for the next selection at IPB level.

Prior to the selection and presentation stage, each student representating the Faculty must undergo quarantine for three days to get guidance about student achievement. According to Dr. Rinekso, achievement is not just about academic achievement. "As what is considered here is not just academic achievement, but the important point is the achievement in extracurricular activities, such as winning an international competition," he added.

In addition, it is also important to look at the ability of communication and psychological aspects. Achieving students are required to be able to transfer their knowledge to others who may not be in the same discipline of knowledge. As for the psychological aspects, Dr. Rinekso explained that character is considered in the assessment of achieving students. "Sometimes students with   good writing works and good English skills could be defeated by those with slightly lower capacity but having good characters because achievement is essentially the accumulation of academic and non-academic values into a whole character," he said.

This year the selection of national outstanding students takes the topic "Personality and National Independence". Dr Rinekso said, in the national selection of outstanding students, IPB has a very good track record, given that IPB’s students are often selected as the 1st national champion of achieving students.
