Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) together with Hokkaido University, Thamasat University, Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University, Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), and Institut Teknologi Bandung (ITB) had successfully held PARE (Population, Activities, Resources, and Environment) Spring School. Of 40 graduate students from Japan, China, Indonesia, and Thailand successflully completed the Spring School which lasted for two weeks (9-20 March 2015). 
 
The Spring School was developed using the interdisciplinary approach to study and resolve the real problems in the field. The facilitator team was also derived from the different scientific backgrounds and cultures, so it was expected to support the interdisciplinary approach. 
 
The theme of PARE Spring School this year was “Good Practices On Ecosystem Management To Improve Community Welfare and Environment Quality”. During the program, the participants of the Spring School took part in the classroom, the field visits to Kampung Baduy, Gunung Gede, Depok, and Pluit Reservoir to observe how was the load faced by the river environment, from upstream to downstream.
 
The visit to Kampung Baduy illustrated the role of local wisdom owned by the traditional community in Indonesia in the sustainable environmental management. This Spring School would be continued with Summer School in Hokkaido University which would be held in the month of June 2015. The Spring School and the Summer School were parts of the package of the program of PARE. 
 
For the participants who could complete the entire program package which covered the Introduction To PARE, the Spring School, the Summer School, and the exchange program for one semester at the partner Universities would receive the graduation certificates of the program of PARE. Until now there were already 14 students from Indonesia and Japan who had completed the entire program of PARE, nine of whom were the students of IPB.***
