Adelaide University Visited to “International Science Experience” in Faculty of Animal Husbandry of IPB
Faculty of Animal Husbandry (Fapet), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) organized a series of joint activities with The University of Adelaide (28/11). Vice Dean of the Faculty of Animal Husbandry of IPB, Dr. Ir. Moh. Yamin, M.Agr Sc., stated, “The goal of this activity is to get the international experience and knowledge, both parties in preparing the students to have the competitiveness in the international world in the era of open economy and trade. The visit activity like this has been three years conducted by the Faculty of Animal Husbandry of IPB and The University of Adelaide’ in the field of School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences."
In the first day, the group from The University of Adelaide visited to Slaughterhouse (RPH) of PT. Elders Indonesia in Campus of IPB Dramaga, and the activity of Analysis Lab Tour in the Faculty of Animal Husbandry and joined the presentation of Fapet Profile. In the second day, the activity of Seminar Undergraduate Students was done in Auditorium J.H Hutasoit, Fapet IPB. "Eighteen students from the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences, The University of Adelaide, and two students from Fapet IPB conduct the presentation of their last assignment topics, researches or field experiences,” said Dr. Ir. Moh. Yamin, M.Sc.Agr.
In this occasion, the students from The University of Adelaide explained about Good Practice in the animal husbandry in Australia. The seminar participants were more than 100 people. The guest group also followed the tour of the campus of IPB and the field laboratory of Fapet IPB, and the discussion of international cooperation and the discussion of student extracurricular activity from both big universities.
Beside a series of the activities, for the postgraduate students of Fapet IPB, there were special international lecture presented by Prof. Wayne Pitchford with the theme of “Interdisciplinary Approaches to Enhancing Livestock Production.” This activity was attended by around 80 postgraduate students of Fapet IPB. This activity was closed with the closing ceremony in Guest House of Land Huis IPB and the cultural show from the students, both from IPB and The University of Adelaide. In the third day, the group was invited to visit the MT Farm owned by the alumni of Fapet IPB and Bogor City Tour to Serambi Botani in Botani Square.
Dr. Ir. Moh. Yamin, M.Sc.Agr stated, “In 2015, we have a green light that it will be a cooperation of summer course and we expect that there will be twenty students of Fapet IPB learning in Australia and otherwise. Actually the try-out has been done for this summer course program, we have sent five students on June 2014 and we will increase the number in 2015.” (RF)
