IPB Touches Sukadamai Village Through a Friday Tour
For seven years of Friday Tours, Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) has established relationship with 17 villages around its campus. One is Sukadamai Village, Dramaga District. To access Sukadamai village, IPB Friday Tour Team, this time led Dr. Ence Darmo Jaya Supena (representing Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Science) have to travel pretty far.
"Friday Tour can also be interpreted as Remembrance Friday, that is, one of our efforts to remember to build relationship in order to know and understand each other. In this way we can share each other. So far, many IPB’s studies have been developed outside Bogor. Therefore, we make activities such as this Friday Tour as a first step to develop IPB’s research results in the community around the campus," said Dr. Ence. Besides Dr. Ence, some members of the Friday Tour team in attendance were Dr. Ir. Hartoyo M.Sc, Vice Head of LPPM for the Community Service, Dr. Sulistiawati (researcher of the Department of Biology), Public Relation team and a team from LPPM-IPB.
On this occasion, IPB gave a fumigation/fogging tool and sprayers for sanitation of livestock pens, health equipment for Posyandu (integrated service post), a package of reading books: "9 pillars of Character", Al Qur’an and Juz Amma for Madrasah Baalawi, 3 rolls of carpet for Mosque and several farming guidebooks for villagers of Kampong Kahuripan of Sukadamai Village.
As a representative of the Village Apparatus, Anda Suhanda expressed his gratitude to IPB. "We are very grateful for IPB’s attention this far. For villagers, the opportunity is now open (IPB’s invitation to develop research results), and now it depends on us; to what extent we can respond to it," he said. In this blessed meeting, Anda cited several things about the condition of the surrounding community. "Today we are colonized or degraded. It is the Indonesian nation’s morality that is degraded. For example, there are many hoeing laborers, but their sons wearing earrings to become punks. If your child is already leading in that direction, do not stand still. If this has gone too far, it will be difficult to mend; if it can still be prevented, then do so, do not get influenced by Western culture. If a nation forgets its own culture, then just wait for its destruction. Therefore, I leave the morals of the nation to IPB,” he said. (Mtd)
