Team of Universitas Lambung Mangkurat Visited IPB
A group of faculty members of University of Lambung Mangkurat (UNLAM), South Kalimantan, visited IPB recently. The team was officially accepted by the Head of Legal Office, Promotion and Public Relations, Ir. Yatri Indah Kusumastuti, M.Si, in the Rectorate Meeting Room, Dramaga Campus, Bogor, on 9 September 2014.
Ir. Zairin, of Agronomy Department of UNLAM, stated that the visit was part of the project funded by the IDB (Islamic Development Bank), for the development of seven universities in Indonesia. The title of the project is “7 in 1”, and the objectives of the project are to assists those seven universities to develop their curriculum. To improve their knowledge and to get important information required to support their curriculum development project UNLAM dicided to send its faculty members to make official visit to IPB. "Faculty of Agriculture of University of Lambung Mangkurat used to be one of the branch of IPB, so it is appropriate if we make university tour to IPB," he added.
In the meeting Ir. Zairin introduced the team members, they were Dr.Ir. H. Gusti Rusmayadi, M.Si (Agronomy), Dr. Ir. Ismed Setia Budi, MS (Plant Pests and Diseases), Dewi Fitrianti, S.P., M.P (Plant Pests and Diseases), Dr. Ir. Ahmad, M.Sc (Soil Science), Dr. Akhmad Rizali Saidy, SP, M.Agr.Sc (Soil Science), Dr. Ir. H. Mohammed Husaini, M.S. (Agribusiness), Ir. Yusuf Azis, M.Sc (Agribusiness), Dr. Ir. Fakhrur Razie, M.Si (Agro-ecotechnology), Ir. Zuraida Titin Mariana, M.Si (Agro-ecotechnology), Dr. Rini Hustiany, S.TP, M.Si (Agricultural Industrial Technology), Alia Rahmi, S.TP, M.Si (Agricultural Industrial Technology), Dr. Ir. Abrani Sulaiman, M.Sc (Faculty of Animal Husbandry), and Ir. Herliani (Faculty of Animal Husbandry).
Ir. Zairin expressed his sincere thanks for the warm welcome accorded to him and his team. In addition, he also expected that IPB would provide information they need, inputs, knowledge, and share experiences to UNLAM, to develop their curriculum.
In response, Ir. Yatri expressed her sincere thanks as the group made official visit to IPB. Then, she presented the curriculum management of IPB which is handled by the Directorate of Academic Development.
As required, the Director of Academic Development of IPB, Ir. Lien Herlina, M.Sc briefed the guests on the present curricuum being offered for enrolling students by IPB, namely minor major system. Students are encouraged to design programs of study that are coherent and meaningful, as well as diverse and innovative. They have to work closely with the adviser in planning their various minor subjects in their respective study in one semester. In addition, each department manages one major for the undergraduate study program. IPB applies major and minor system instead of national curriculum system, as the university has its specific competencies.
She added that IPB applies rules set by the Directorate General of Higher Education, while the competency-based curriculum is tailored to the needs of the University. In its formulation of suchpolicies, IPB was given a lot of authorities to define the content of its curriculum based on its expected learning outcomes.
Finally this togetherness meeting was officially closed by the Secretary of the University, Dr. Ir. Abdul Qoyim. (Wied).
