Chess makes Andhika selected as an outstanding student. The game of chess is not as popular as football. Chess is a mental game played by one-on-one, in an informal game it can be played by one against many people, and this is usually played indoors. However, football is a game that emphasizes speed, physical strength, and stamina, and takes place on the wide open field.

Through the game of chess, Andhika, an IPB student of Batch 49, can make a lot of achievement to be proud of. Here are some of his achievements in the world of chess: 2nd champion in the friendly matches of Bogor in 2006, 2nd winner in the regional championship of West Java in 2007, 1st winner in Chess Championship for Bogor Mayor Cup in 2008, 3rd winner in the chess championship of Raja Mas Club in 2008, 10th  rank in IPB’s Anniversary Championship in 2008, 1st winner in the chess champion of Raja Mas Club in 2009, 2nd winner in Bogor Mayor’s Cup Chess Championship in 2009, 1st winner in the national rapid chess championship in 2009, 1st winner in the chess champion of Raja Mas Club in 2010, 3rd winner in the national chess championship in 2010, 3rd winner in Bogor Mayor’s  Cup Chess Championship in 2011, fifth rank in the national chess championship of Jakarta JAPFA Chess festival in 2011, 1st winner in the national team chess championship of Polban, Bandung 2012, 3rd winner in the national team chess championship of Polban, Bandung 2013, 1st winner in the chess championship of POMNAS Yogyakarta in 2013 and 2014 in the 25-minute rapid chess category, 1st winner in the chess champion of POMNAS Yogyakarta in the category of 5 minute chess in 2013 and 2014, 2nd winner in the Rector Cup Chess Championship in 2014, the achieving student of IPB for the chess game in 2014.

Because of the prominent achievements, last year Andhika was selected as an outstanding student at IPB level. He recounted his experience when he could not take the national examination because he was participating in the chess championship of West Java Province. At that time, the concentration split between the championship and the exam, so the results are less satisfying. However, luck favors Andhika; he could go to one of the favorite senior high schools in the city of Bogor thanks to his chess.

Andhika said, in carrying out the mandate as Chairman of the Student Activity Unit of Chess, he emphasizes brotherhood among his fellow members of the Unit. He will continue to practice, but this must support the academic activities. M. Ariqi, one of Andhika’s friends, said that Andhika is a cool guy, fun to talk with, in classes he easily learns the lessons, and think analytically and fast. "I am impressed by his incredible chess game," he said. (Mtd)
