IPB and NIES Established the Monitoring Cooperation in the Low Carbon Region

Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) and National Institute for Environmental Studies (NIES), Tsukuba, Japan organized the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Campus of IPB Darmaga (16/6). This MoU was signed by Rector of IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Herry Soehardiyanto, M.Sc, together with President of NIES, Prof. Akimasa Sumi. This cooperation was tied together in the research in the finding of model for monitoring the carbon low area and forming the eco campus and eco society.
 
Rector of IPB stated, “We are really happy to be able to start the cooperation with NIES in developing and carrying out the joint research activity in the field of climate change, we can exchange information scientifically and technically, and we can organize the joint seminar and research.” In this meeting, Project Agreement was also signed for the joint research about “Development of Innovative MRV System for Eco-Industrial Parks and Eco-Cities” by Prof. Dr.Ir. Rizaldi Boer, MS (Head of Center for Management, Opportunity and Risk of Climate of Southeast Asia and Pacific Areas/CCROM-SEAP) and Prof. Tsuyoshi Fujita (NIES).
 
This joint research aimed to produce the research contributing to the improvement of the environment through the activity of collaboration covering the research themes, including the integrated evaluation of the mitigation strategy and the research model from the carbon low community, the eco-city design of city and region, the modeling and simulation for the low carbon community, and the innovative supervision and the research of the regional evaluation system.Rector hoped that this cooperation could run very well and produce many findings which were useful for both institutions and strengthened the relation between Indonesia and Japan.
