Cooperation of IPB and PT. Yanmar Japan

PT. Yanmar Diessel, a company which one of them was engaged in the agricultural machinery hooked IPB as the cooperation partner. The signing of the memorandum of understanding of cooperation was conducted between Yanmar Executive Officer, Minoru Okubo with Vice Rector of Research and Cooperation of IPB, Prof. Dr. Anas M Fauzi, 26/5 in Campus of IPB Taman Kencana witnessed by officials from both institutions. It appeared that it was present from IPB: Director of Cooperation and International Program, Dr. Eddy Hartulistyoso, Head of Sub-directorate of International Cooperation, Dr. Eko Hari Purnomo, and Chairman of Department of Machine Engineering and Bio-system, Dr. Desrial. Dean of Faculty of Agricultural Technology of IPB, Dr. Sam Herodian who oversaw this cooperation since the beginning conveyed that Yanmar wanted to accelerate the agricultural mechanization in Indonesia. They assessed the agricultural mechanization in Indonesia tended to be slow compared to neighboring countries such as Thailand and Vietnam.

It was said by Dr. Sam, for the initial step for three months IPB and Yanmar would establish a pilot project in form of research center to find the solutions together related to the agricultural situation in Indonesia. Not only the field of agricultural mechanization it was also the field of socio-economic of agriculture and agronomy and horticulture. Related to agricultural mechanization, Yanmar and IPB would demonstrate the agricultural machinery of the result of each innovation so there would be a sharing of information and knowledge related to agricultural mechanization. Further it was said by Dr. Sam that in this research cooperation Yanmar and IPB would adjust the agricultural machinery suitable to the agriculture in Indonesia. (dh)
