News
Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) released its graduates in the Graduation Ceremony and Submission of Certificates of Stage IV for the Undergraduate and Graduate Programs of Education of the academic year 2013/2014, Wednesday (19/3) at Graha Widya  Wisuda  or Graduation Building (GWW), Dramaga Campus of IPB. IPB Rector, Prof. Dr. Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto, M.Sc in his speech expressed his appreciation to 800 graduates, consisting of 27 Doctoral graduates, 151 Master graduates in Science, 28 Master graduates in Management, 9 graduates with Professional Master degree and 585 Bachelor graduates.

On that occasion, Rector of IPB also advised that IPB graduates uphold IPB’s five principal values: integrity, respect, responsibility, inclusive, and excellence. Integrity includes honesty, fairness trustworthiness and dedication. Respect implies caring and being on the side of small people, empathy, harmony, and humanity. Responsibility (accountability) refers to willingness to take any possible risks as the results of attitudes, decisions, and actions taken as well as transparency. Inclusive implies accepting differences and implementing it in real life, applying the collective-collegial principles. Excellence includes the characters of visionary, intelligent, competitive, responsive, resilient, professional, independent, anticipatory, creative, focused, and academic excellence. "I hope you can all show the superiority of these values by showing examples models in the community. I accompanied your steps out of the campus with a prayer that you can contribute to solving all the problems faced by Indonesia," said Rector of IPB.

Meanwhile, Mohammad Ismail, the best Master graduate of Science and Technology, Faculty of Animal Husbandry (FAPET IPB), describes his impression during the studies in IPB. "I completed the Master of Science in Bogor Agricultural University majoring in the Science of Animal Production and Technology (ITP) less than 2 years, i.e. 22 months to be exact. Unusual, because personally I did not think I could complete the study with a GPA of 3.95. This needs remarkable adaptations, knowing that in developing for five years the animal farmers in the rural area of Ciamis Regency, West Java, the applied knowledge is generally simple, practical, and applicable. This achievement certainly requires planning, consistent effort, prayer, and submission to the Supreme Controlling God, as well as the support from the surrounding people," he said.

Similar impression was expressed by Deborah Kristina, the best graduate in the bachelor degree, Department of Nutrition and Feed Technology, Faculty of Animal Science IPB. According to her, IPB provides a lot of valuable lessons during the studies. "In IPB I learned many things, from not knowing to knowing. There are many unforgettable experiences starting from the TPB (the first-year common programs) period, furthermore in the Faculty of Animal Science (INTP). Meeting friends, teachers and staff, organizational experience, the unforgettable final years and much more. In IPB I met a lot of friends from various parts of Indonesia, so I could learn a lot of other cultures and their different ways of thinking. Hopefully in the future IPB becomes more advanced, becoming the number one university in Indonesia and even internationally. I am proud to be part of IPB," she admits. (Mtd)
