Gait of Community Empowerment of IPB Reverberated at RRI

Center Human Resource Development, Institute for Research and Community Service (P2SDM LPPM IPB) in collaboration with the partners for seven years had provided real work for community in various areas, including City and District of Bogor and Cianjur through Family Empowerment Post (Posdaya). This was revealed in "Pakar IPB dalam Siaran Pedesaan RRI, 93,75 FM" “Expert of IPB in Rural Broadcast of RRI 93.75 FM”, Tuesday (11/3), by presenting the resource persons of Head of Human Resources Development Division of P2SDM, Ir.Yanefri Bakhtiar,M.Si. and her partner, Ir. Mintarti, M.Si. Ir.Yanefri said, "Posdaya is a new breakthrough in the community empowerment. Posdaya accommodates all existing activities in villages by optimizing the existing potential". At the moment, Ir.Yanefri added, Posdaya focused on four main activities namely health, education, economy, and environment. Further Ir.Yanefri explained, the existing health program, like Posyandu, and the existence of Posdaya helped to strengthen with the health education program for adolescent reproduction, blood sugar tests, uric acid, anemia, cheap drug supply, gymnastics of healthy heart, and so on. In the educational program, IPB helped to strengthen the early childhood education (PAUD) by providing the guidance to the Teacher of PAUD and providing the management training forthe management of this PAUD institution. In the economics, Ir.Yanefri added, IPB encouraged the potential of local resources like nursery plants, developing various chips, also providing assistance for the growth of the Microfinance Institution (LKM). While in the environment, IPB directed to effort of waste management into compost, early monitoring of dengue mosquito larvae and developing the Nutritious Garden program. In a dialogue which was guided by Rani from RRI Bogor, Ir.Mintarti, M.Si as the second speaker emphasized, "Posdaya Activity is ideally constructed at the level of Rukun Warga (RW) because if the level of village of the area is too broad, so it is seen as less effective in communication and coordination. In the implementation of this Posdaya program, P2SDM LPPM IPB is partnering to work with Yayasan Damandiri, Bogor City Government, Bogor District, Cianjur District, and Sukabumi District. So far, IPB has successfully established 150 Posdaya spreading in Bogor, Cianjur and Sukabumi. Moreover, IPB is believed to be the Coordinator of 11 Universities in West Java and Lampung with the total number of 1,300 Posdaya.” Ir.Yanefri closed the dialogue by describing the success of one of Posdaya "Puspa Lestari" in Pasir Kuda Ciomas Sub-district Bogor District.
