Ciherang Will Become the Center of Typical Souvenir Industry in Bogor

It seems that we have never been to Bogor, unless we have bought typicalsouvenirsfrom this city for our family members. We are expected to understand that nowadays those typical souvenirs aren’t being produced by home industries in the Bogorcity, but also from  Bogor regency. 

 

One of the villages that produces such souvenirs is Ciherang village, Bogor regency. The village is located around the DramagaCampus of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB). This village is planned to be the centerfor the typical souvenir. 

 

It was stated by Ciherang village secretary, Ari, in the Friday Tour organized by  Bogor Agricultural University when the group visited Ciherang Village, on Friday, 8 November 2013. Friday Tour was participated by the Dean of the Graduate School (SPS) of the University, Dr.DahrulSyah, local community leaders,  andAgrianitaof IPB.

 

"We are fortunate that our village located at the Darmaga campus perimeter. Therefore, IPB has been landing its  hands to be the foster father of the communities surrounding villages, including the CiherangVillage, "said Ari.

 

Ciherang village is considered appropriate to be center of the souvenir production in  Bogor regency. As this village has produced many variety of processed foods which were exhibited for the participants of Friday Tour. Those processed foods were: wajit taro, dodol tales, dodolketan, dodolkacang, putrinoong, manisanpepaya(sweetened papaya) and so on. Not only processed foods were displayed, but they also exhibited liquid soap, sabuncolek(dipped soap) and of liquid fertilizer resulted by the home industries run by village ladies of PosdayaAsri,Ciherang.

 

The Dean of SPS, Dr.Dahrul, who  represented IPB on this Friday Tour expressed, that communities should be united, not walking alone. We have to be cooperative and collaborative to achieve the necessary progress. "IPB and the community must work hands in hands, not to be walking alone, "said Dr.Dahrul.

 

Friday Tour at Ciherang village was lively. Participants of  Friday Tour IPB were entertained Qosidah. The event started by granting the compensation to 20 orphans, medical equipment delivery, and delivery of training certificates of ‘Institutional Capacity Building Empowerment Family Welfare (PKK)’.(Wied).
