The Oil Palm Communities Indonesia (MAKSI) initiated the international journal publishing which disseminated the results of research and researcher innovation in the oil palm field. “MAKSI has published the national journal that we give Indonesian name i.e. Journal Of Oil Palm (IJOP). This journal becomes the publication receptacle of the result of innovation and new breakthrough in the oil palm field. We hope the support from all parties both domestic and overseas and hopefully this plan is implemented so the results of research and innovation of oil palm field can be known by the international community,” said Chairman of MAKSI, Prof. Dr. E. Gumbira Sa’id in the event of the National Seminar of MAKSI 2013, Wednesday (25/9) in Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) International Convention Center.
 
This international journal publishing would increase the performance of the scientific publication to the community. With the increasing of scientific publication, it would influence to the increase of positive campaign about the oil palm and it is expected to be able to dismiss the oblique allegation of Indonesia as the state of environment and forest destroyer. “Therefore, from the Seminar MAKSI 2013 it is expected to result various innovations and new breakthrough that strengthens the advocacy of Indonesia in facing the global trading which full of severe challenges,” asserted Prof.Egum thus He was usually called by his colleague.
 
In his welcome speech, Rector of IPB, Prof.Dr.Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto, M.Sc also conveyed, IPB was very interested to support and develop MAKSI in order to continue to advance rapidly. “As the form of commitment in the development of human resources in the research field and the oil palm industry in Indonesia, IPB at the moment has developed the plantation in Jonggol area of 50 hectares. The oil palm industry is very many and its role is big in the regional economy, producing energy and foodstuffs. Even more how we can increase the use of oil palm for the public interest,” said Prof. Herry. (wal)
