Some 10 thousand participants took part in the Healthy Morning Walk (Japas) and Festival Nusantara of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), Sunday (22/9), in Darmaga campus. Japas coordinator, Prof. Dr. Ir Khaswar Syamsu, M.Sc. said: "This year the participants reached 10 thousand people. This is the biggest number ever held by IPB. They involved academicians, supporting staff, students (50th batch) of the first year common Preparation Program (TPB) and IPB’s partners (villagers around the campus). "This large number of participants is an expression of love and concern for commemorating the 50th anniversary of IPB.

Rector of IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto, M.Sc also said, by walking down IPB’s campus area, participants can experience the beauty of the campus environment. "We have to protect the environment. Do not spoil it!  It is important to improve the cleanliness of the environment in the best possibe way," he said. IPB’s achievements are the fruit of collaboration. Further, he said, we should constantly unite our steps and syncronize our views in more communicative way to build stronger unity for further achievements of greater pride.

Unlike the previous years, this year IPB Japas goes along with Nusantara Festival. In this festival there are 200 stands selling a wide variety of typical regional dishes and drinks such as: cat rice, coconut-milk rice, rawon rice, Manado porridge, mushroom satay, nutmeg juice and more. The culinary stands were managed by Agrianita IPB, Regional Student Organization (Omda) throughout Indonesia, IPB student entrepreneurs, and villagers around the campus. In addition, there are stands of student organizations called Science and Technology, involving several clusters: science and technology, agriculture cluster and social cluster as well as Environment Green Festival stage. The festival also invites 200 children from the villages around Campus to participate in education about environment.

Mr. Rupi, one of Japas participants from Fisheries and Marine Sciences Faculty of IPB, who got the door prize of magic jar, said, IPB Japas activities this year are so impressive. "It is now very beautiful and remarkable. Not because of the prizes, but it is impressive because there are many culinary stands that participants can enjoy," he said. A similar impression is from Mrs. Yoyah, Sukawening Village staff. "This is the first time I saw so many people in the healthy morning walk, amazing and really blue IPB," she said. (Mtd)
