FPIK IPBOrganized Focus Group Discussion (FGD) on Higher Learning Education on Fisheries and Marine Sciences

Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences (FPIK) Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) organized a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the theme "PengembanganPendidikanTinggiKelautandanPerikananIndones(TheDevelopment of Indonesian Higher Learning Education on Maritime Affairs and Fisheries)".  This activity was held at the Auditorium SumardiSastrakusumah, on 26 June 2013.
 
The Dean of FPIK IPB,  Prof.  Dr.Indra Jaya, M.Sc,  stated that the development of fisheries and marine science in Indonesia can not be separated from the establishment  and the development of higher educational institution such as the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences of Bogor Agricultural University. It is the oldest educational institution on fisheries in Indonesia. Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences of Bogor Agricultural University was established concurrently  with the establishment  IPB on 1 September 1963. It was born together with other four Faculties under this new university, namely: (1). Faculty of Agriculture; (2). Faculty of Veterinary Medicine; (3).  Faculty of Animal Husbandry;  and (4). Faculty of Forestry. Thus, in the 2013  theFaculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences is 50 years old now".
 
On the discussion, Dr. Ir. SitiNurbayaBakar, M.Sc explained the importance of the development of fisheries and marine science. Studies on the Archipelagic Sea Lanes of Indonesia (ALKI) and its benefits for  the development of ports and transportations are required. Of course, basic science such as research programs on oceanography and earth science are needed, as they are closely related with the trend of global climate change. 
 
DR. Ir. Muhammad Taufiq, M.Sc, Advisor for the Business Development and Partnership, Ministry of Cooperatives and SMEs of Indonesia,  stressed the importance of efforts to cultivate the entrepreneurships of the alumni of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences of IPBon fishery sector.
 
As part of the itineraries of the program, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the FPIK IPB and Bank SyariahMandiri Bogor Branch on Micro Coaching, of Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the field of Fisheries and Marine Resources was signed. The signatories of MoUwere the ofFPIK IPB, Prof. Dr.Ir, Indrajaya, M.Sc. and Head of Bank SyariahMandiri Bogor Branch, Mr.MetiPurwitasari, (Wied).
