State Senior High School 9 of South Tangerang Visits IPB

The guests were welcome at the Auditorium of Andi Hakim Nasution by IPB Executive Secretary, Dr. Bonny PW Soekarno, (20/5). He expressed gratitude for the choice of the State Senior High School 9 of South Tangerang to visit IPB. He said that the school has a high interest to study in IPB.

 

During the visit, one of the students who is interested in IPB, Aditya asked about the enrolment to state universities that requires a statement of parents’ income – whether it is compulsory? Answering the question, the resource person Siti Nuryati,  STP.MSi  explained that  it is important for IPB because it needs to know the amount of parents’ salary to ensure no students will drop out of school just because of financial problems. So far IPB has applied cross-subsidy for new students in the first year of study.

 

Nuryati also emphasizes that parents’ salary is not used to consider whether a student candidate is admitted or not into IPB.  Admissions are purely based on academic achievements. Furthermore, IPB gets the highest quota of scholarship called Bidikmisi in Indonesia, accounting for over 1100 students last year. Not only Bidikmisi, IPB students have also the opportunity to get scholarships from other sponsors.

 

Another student, Salam asked about the entrepreneurship program of IPB. Nuryati said that the entrepreneurship program may be taken by students of any department, made in the form of a business plan or proposal. If a student has a viable business proposal, then s/he will be given assistance with the capital and mentoring. (Mtd)
