Marine and fisheries industrialization is an effort to accelerate the development of marine and fisheries fields through modernization of production systems, improved productivity, value-added products that are highly competitive and market-oriented to improve the welfare of the fisherman communities. The concept of "blue economy" has been developed within the framework of a balance between economic use of natural resources and environmental conservation.

This statement was confronted in the IPB 5th National Seminar on Fisheries with the theme "PenerapanHasilPenelitianuntukMendorongIndustrialisasiPerikananLaut Indonesia (The Application of Fisheries Research to Promote the Industrialization of Indonesian Marine Fisheries)", on Thursday, 16 May 2013, at IPB International Convention Center (IICC), Bogor.
