A total of 62 fresh veterinarians were sworn in the 2013 Oath Taking Ceremony of the Veterinarian ofthe Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Bogor Agricultural University (FKH IPB), on Thursday, 25 April 2013,  at IPB International Convention Center. Veterinarian Oath Taking this year was a special event as it is coincided with the golden anniversary of IPB. On that occasion the best graduate,Ms.Sri RahmatulLaila DVM., GPA3.92 received a special award for her achievements.
 
Deputy Secretary General of the PerhimpunanDokterHewan Indonesia(PDHI-Indonesian Veterinary Medical Association), Dr.RP AgusLelana, DVM. SPMP, MSi,  in his remarks encouraged  the newly graduated veterinarians should continue to work in their track fields, as the total number of required veterinarians is far less than the required total numbers  of the growing demands for veterinarians. "I hope the veterinarians are committed to pursue their profession, so that the demanded veterinary needs can be met," said Dr.Agus. Especially with the current zoonosesrules that require every area of the city and county should be served by a veterinarian to the veterinary medical authorities.
 
In addition to work as a profession, Dr.Agus also urged the newly graduated to  implementationthe ethical code of the veterinary. It has legal consequences for any action that may affectof both clients and patients. Malpractices in veterinary practice must be prosecuted. Therefore, veterinarians should act professionally, carefully and in accordance with the professional code of ethics.
 
The Dean of the School of the Veterinary Medicine, Dr.SrihadiAgungpriyono,  also emphasized that  the new veterinarians should be able to understand and live according their  vows and apply it at their works. "Veterinarians should also spirited new life long learner by constantly updating knowledge and skills through various training and continuing education, while maintaining a relationship with the campus, as well as ready to take the national competency exam to retain FKH IPB good achievement for this," Appeals Dr.Srihadi.
 
Vice Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs of IPB, Prof. YonnyKoesmaryono, on behalf of  Rector of IPBin his remarks he focused on the current total number of veterinarians in Indonesia is around 12 thousand, the said number is still far from being sufficient as the required number of veterinarians in Indonesian should be around  20 thousand. "Rector stated that the regular capacity of FKH IPB is about 150-180 of new students, the total number of new admitted students have been increased into 200-250 students, accordingly IPB is committed to continuously improve its existed infrastructure facilities," he said.(Wied).
