Transmigration Role in Creating Business and Employment Opportunities

Directorate of Career Development and Alumni Relations (DPKHA) of IPB held a seminar on Manpower and Transmigration entitled "Revitalizing Transmigration in Creating Business and Employment Opportunities". The event took place at the Auditorium Andi Hakim Nasoetion, (28/3), as cooperation between IPB and Ministry of Manpower and Transmigration. Directorate General of Transmigration Area Development (P2KTrans), Jamaluddien Malik, when opening the event, said that the Indonesian population is currently not evenly distributed, so there is a lot of inequality in development. For this reason, an effort is made through the implementation of transmigration.
 
This is to build the new growth centers through the creation of new production centers, which are integrated into the transmigration areas so that there would be synergy between human resource of local people or migrants and natural resources prioritized in the transmigration areas, he said.  In addition he added the need for the role of various stakeholders including state universities like IPB. "IPB is undoubted for its role in improving the quality of its graduates, he said. Thus, IPB’s contribution is needed for the improvement of the workforce after its placement. IPB is always expected to produce well-prepared graduates for employment suited to the needs in this global era.
 
Head of Career Development and Alumni Relations (DPKHA) of IPB, Dr. Ir. Dodik Nurochmat, advised that students be ready to be a creative generation. He says IPB’s role is much expected for IPB is an agriculture-based university and focuses on the development of rural areas. Moreover, IPB has produced more than 110 graduates performing their work in remote areas of Indonesia, and has alumni networking of various disciplines and many graduates hold key positions in various institutions.
