Approximately 32 initial results of research related to "Ecological and Socioeconomic Functions of Tropical Lowland Rainforest Transformation Systems (Sumatra, Indonesia) in collaboration with the University of Goettingen in IPB were presented in the Seminar on Research Results of Start UP CRC 990-Efforts, Cooperation of IPB and University of Goettingen, Germany, in Darmaga Campus, 18/3. The event was opened by the Vice Rektor of Research and Cooperation, Prof.Dr.Ir.Anas M Fauzi. The early results involve several fields such as Biotaand Ecosystem Services (20 titles), Environmental Process (8 titles), and Human Dimensions (4 titles). The study results will be reviewed and further discussed by researchers of IPB. According to Prof. Anas, thisresearch cooperation will be implemented in one of the lowland tropical rain forest in Jambi province on Sumatra island.
 
This Projectof Collaborative Research Center (CRC) will analyze and compare a wide range of issues including biodiversity, soil fertility, water, and greenhouse gases. It also will makr a variety of studies on the economic, social, cultural, and political transformations associated with rainforest. (mtd)
