Research and Community Empowerment Institute – Bogor Agricultural University (LPPM – IPB) in cooperation with PT Sucofindo hold “Pasar Murah BUMN Peduli (Cheap market by State Owned Enterprises)”, on Saturday, 29 December 2012,  at Grha Widya Graduation (GWW), Dramaga Campus. In the "Cheap market", the communities may purchase a pack of daily needs worth Rp. 100.000, – (one hundred thousand Rupiah) with only  Rp 30.000,- (thirty thousand Rupiah). Each pack contains eight kilograms of rice, one kilogram of sugar, and one liter of cooking oil.

For this activity, Sucofindo provided 4700 (four thousand seven hundred) packages, which were reserved for less fortunates communities living around both Baranangsiang and  Dramaga Campus, and 700 (seven hundred) employees IPB level I and II.
 
The first package was symbolically sold by IPB Rector, Prof. Dr. Herry Suhardiyanto, accompanied by Deputy Chief LPPM- IPB for Community Service,  Dr Prastowo, and the representative of Sucofindo, Bandung.
 
IPB Rector welcomed the activities that unite the potential of Community Development Service of the BUMN with the communities who are categorized into economically weak. According to him, this activity is expected to minimize the impacts on the community due to the variety of government programs related to the reduction of subsidies.
 
In addition,  Dr Prastowo expressed that the present “Cheap market” was the second of its  kind. By purchasing, the communities were expected to build their sense of independence, "said Dr Prastowo. (Wied).
