The condition of the Food Barn of Regional Community (LPMD) at the moment partially was ‘a dead faint’ because it was less conquered by the market and it was not strongly competing with ‘the private barn’ owned by private property or large investor. “Some areas are developed quite rapidly even already organized like Forum Komunikasi Kelompok Lumbung Pangan in East Java,” explained Minister of Home Affairs, Gamawan Fauzi, S.H, M.M, in the event of National Seminar and Business Meeting of “Penguatan Peran IPB dalam Mewujudkan Ketahanan dan Kedaulatan Pangan: Lessons Learned & Best Practices Kerjasama dengan Pemerintah Daerah”, Monday (7/12) at IPB International Conventional Center.

The best practice of the community empowerment including the village government food reserve was used for disaster relief, stabilization of food price, and distribution of rice for the poor. “The use of the village government food reserve should be by consensus. For optimizing it is necessary to increase the local capacity for security and food sovereignty,” continued Gamawan.

In the same occasion, Rector of IPB, Prof.Dr.Ir.Herry Suhardiyanto, delivered that the academic community of IPB realized that the resulting innovations were still not fully present in the community. “IPB need the support of many parties, especially the local government to work together to bridge innovation that all of these innovations can be useful and implemented to support the realization of the food security,” stated the Rector firmly.
