International Conference of Food Ingredients Asia 2012
Association of Indonesian Food Technologists (PATPI) working with SEAFAST Center, Institute of Research and Community Empowerment (LPPM) Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), and Department of Food Science and Technology IPB organized the International Conference with the theme of “Future of Food Factors” on Wednesday, 3-4 October 2012 (3/10). This activity was the series of activities of Food Ingredients Asia 2012 which this year was held in Pusat Niaga Building, Jakarta International Expo, Kemayoran.
Chairman of the Committee of the International Conference, Dr. Eko Hari Purnomo, STP., M.Sc; stated that this activity was expected to be able to facilitate the transfer of information among academics, researchers, end users and governments. “This activity hopefully can facilitate the transfer of information and knowledge among academics, researchers with end users and governments because the research in the Food Ingredient is quote a lot and we try to facilitate that in order to be able to come about the security, quality, nutrition, and food security which are better and the industrial impact can discover what is being developed by the research and in the same time the researcher of university can also listen to input from the industry about the industrial need”.
In the activity of this year International Conference there were additional activities such as Tropical Plant Curriculum (TPC). “For this year, there is the additional activity because fortuity SEAFAST is managing the project funded by USAID named Tropical Plant Curriculum. Later, on this activity, one of which is to see how the development of the project”, said Dr. Eko Hari Purnomo. In addition to Tropical Plant Curriculum (TPC), there were some special events in this activity such as “Graduate Student Research Paper Competition”.
In this event, it was also an exhibition which was followed by around 400 companies from 40 countries who were the industrial players both local and international participated this year to broaden the network and to develop the business in Southeast Asia region. The participants would demonstrate various kinds of products and services from the entire industries. (RF)
