Graduate Program of Management and Business of IPB Releases 163 Doctoral and Master Graduates

Graduate Program of Management and Business (MB), Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) released its 163 graduates in the MB-IPB graduation ceremony of 2011/2012", Saturday (26/5) at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Jakarta.
 
The 163 graduates consist of 35 doctoral and 128 Master graduates from Management and Business Program. This adds to the number of doctoral graduates from the MB Program of IPB, which was first opened in 2006, reaching 51 doctoral graduates and 2756 Master of Management graduates since its opening in 1992.

MB-IPB awarded the Best Alumni of the Year to the best graduates from each program: Dr. Ir. Iyung Pahang, MM for the Doctoral Program, with a GPA of 3.98 and the study period of 35 months, and Hendra Wijaya, SE.Ak, MM for Master of Management Program, with a GPA of 3.96 and the study length of 18 months.

Like its tradition already carried out before, in this graduation, MB-IPB has since 2006 been always consistent to raise the theme of improving the competitiveness of Indonesia in various aspects. Given the important role of entrepreneurs in improving competitiveness and the shifting meaning of competitiveness, this year IPB MB raises the seminar topic "Improving Entrepreneurial Ecosystem for Sustainable Business Competitiveness," by presenting the keynote speaker, the Minister of Finance, Agus DW Martowardojo.

"This is an attempt to synergize the steps of the various actors and entrepreneurship stakeholders to provide an ecosystem for the growth of entrepreneurs," said Director of MB-IPB, Dr. Ir. Arief Daryanto, M.Ec. in his speech.
 
According to him, based on the data from Ministry of Cooperative and Small-Medium Businesses, the number of Indonesian entrepreneurs has reached 1.56% of the total population of Indonesia. "But this figure has not yet reached the minimum of 2% to become a developed country. At present Malaysia and Singapore have reached the number of entrepreneurs of 5% and 7%," said Arief Daryanto. According to him, competitiveness in the future should be based on more comprehensive and integrated aspects.

In this graduation ceremony, a national seminar was also held with the main speaker, the founder and owner of MEDCO Group, Dr. (HC). Ir. Arifin Panigoro, and the critics involving Director of MM FEB UGM, Prof. Lincoln Arsyad, Ph. D, and Director of MB IPB, Dr.Arief Daryanto, MEc., and the moderator, Dr. Aviliani, SE, MSi.
 
Also present in the event was Rector of IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto, M.Sc., former Minister of Agriculture in the era of President Soeharto, Prof.Dr.Ir Sjarifuddin Baharsjah and other IPB elders. (Mtd)
