The Indonesian Forests Need More Silviculturists

Indonesia needs more silviculturists. They are required  to develop the Indonesia’s forests to be well-managed. It was  stated  by Dr. Ir. Supriyanto, faculty member of the  Department of Silviculture, Faculty of Forestry, at the the RRI Interactive Dialogue in Bogor, few days ago.
 
Dr. Supriyanto gave examples, the state forests of Indonesia cover areas of about  130 million hectares, 43 million hectares of which are intacked.  However,  illegal logging practices have destructed the existing forests. "That’s why silviculturists are urgently needed.

The aforestation programs for our sustainable forests, the forest management to develop the  well-managed forests, are challenges for silviculturists. In term of producing those required silviculturists, "said Dr. Supriyanto. Finally, he explained that the  Indonesia’s forests are divided on the state and social forests.
