Friday Tour in Dramaga Village: Still Many Challenges
Jumling (Friday Tour) regularly held by IPB with the people around the campus still faces many challenges in the future as is the case with the Village of Dramaga; there are still many challenges and problems to be solved together.
These were revealed in the fourth year of Friday Tour in the Office Hall of Dramaga village, on 11th of May, attended by Head of Village Dramaga, Yayat Supriyatna, Vice Head of LPPM IPB for the Community Service Division, Dr. Ir. Prastowo, Head of Economic Section in Dramga District, Herlan, a number of IPB lecturers and Nugraha Farmer Group
"Some of the programs and activities of Friday Tour and Dramaga Village have begun to be realized, such as, the assistance and development of Nugraha fish farmers and candied nutmeg processing," said Dr. Prastowo in his speech.
According to him, IPB still tries to continue community service, especially to villages around IPB campus. "Some activities are already running well, but some programs are still facing many challenges, and so we need to work together and improve communication among stakeholders," he said.
He says two programs will be implemented in the Village of Dramaga in this 2012, namely to help the fish farmer groups, especially Nugraha Farmer Group, with the issue of feed and to establish a packaging house for the craftsmen dealing with candied nutmeg.
There is improvement
Meanwhile, in the discussion one of candied nutmeg producers, Hafsah said that after some empowerment by LPPM IPB, his business seems to have experienced significant improvement. Initially the production was only 2 quintals of candied nutmeg, now he can produce 5 quintals per week. "Thank God it has benefits, with the empowerment by IPB, my business has increased – its market is not only in Bogor, but it is in Bandung as well. This is because the packaging is good," Hafsah said in front of IPB officials and public.
In this Friday tour, IPB gives aid to 20 orphans and a set of floating net to the Nugraha Farmer Group. (mtd)
