Manpower Planning for the 21 Centers Under the LPPM-IPB
Directorate of Human Resources (HR) of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) organized the workshop on "Strategic Plan to Develop Staffing Strategies for the Centers under the LPPM-IPB (Research and Community Empowerment Institute Bogor Agricultural University)", on 16 May 2012. The objectives of the workshop was to formulate the Strategic Plan that plan helps Centers under the LPPM-IPB in identifying current and future staffing needs.
The workshop was participated by representatives of those 21 Centers under the LPPM-IPB. At this special occasion each Center was given the opportunity to present its strategic plan, especially its staffing plan. In his opening remarks Rector of the University, Prof. Dr. Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto, M. Sc., stressed the importance of the Strategic Plan for those Centers, as staff planning and analysis is a useful tool that can be used by management to determine the most efficient and effective mix of staff for their Centers, but it can also be used by auditors to evaluate the staffing decisions that University has made.
Vice Rector for Resources and Development, Prof. Dr. Ir. Hermanto Siregar, in his presentation stated that Manpower Planning is really required by IPB as the reference for human resource development in each Center. They should be well-planned, fair, transparent, and one of the most important elements of an effective staffing plan is having clear criteria to determine what level of staff will be sufficient.
To conclude the workshop, Rector has recommended that the Centers should socialize the activities they have implemented, as well as to formalized the Advisory Boards that already exist. A letter of Decision by University will be issued concerning the formalization of those Boards and they will be functioning as a "bridge" between the center with the faculty / department. Rector stated, "Let us strengthening the bridge between Centers with the department and faculty to synergize our relationships". (Wied).
