Celebrating the 30th Anniversary of the Biggest Faculty of Bogor Agricultural University

In the year 2012, the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences of  Bogor Agricultural University (FMIPA-IPB) will celebrate its 30th anniversary. In order to develop FMIPA-IPB as one of the potential producer for qualified human resources in science and technology in Indonesia, it is necessary to trace its history, to examin its programs and to plan the bright future for FMIPA-IPB.

 The statement was delivered to the reporter of Pariwara by the Dean of the FMIPA-IPB,  Dr.Ir. Sri Nurdiati, in the "Workshop Towards 30 Years of FMIPA-IPB", at Guesthouse, Darmaga Campus,  on 26 April 2012.

In this occassion, Prof.Dr.Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto, MSc,  Rector of the University, expressed his appreciation and congratulated  FMIPA-IPB that celebrated its 30th anniversary. FMIPA-IPB is biggest  faculty in Bogor Agricultural University with eight departments. According to Rector, development of the faculty might be established based on the rational, as well as  clear and well-prepared plan. .

"Many achievements have been made by FMIPA-IPB. In the future it is expected FMIPA-IPB to be the locomotive for other faculties due to its strategic development of basic science in agriculture. Full support from all parties under Bogor Agricultural University is really required by  FMIPA-IPB to implement the idea, "she said.

In addition, Dr. Sri also expressed her sincere expectations that the anniversary programs will explore formulas and recommendations, which later on will be expressed a book going to be published. Moreover, the book will also express future of FMIPA-IPB as expected by senior faculty members and administrators of FMIPA-IPB before the year 2011 and today.

"This plan will be outlined in a book on “30 Tahun Membangun Sains dan Matematika: Perjalanan FMIPA IPB 1982-2012” (30 Years in Developing Science and Mathematics: the Journey of FMIPA IPB 1982-2012). The book will be published  comprehensively which will cover all aspects that include the history, its institutional and structural development, functional activities, impressions by the academic community of FMIPA-IPB  utilized as references for the national policies. Finally, it will also cover the innovation and the pursuit in science and technology of FMIPA-IPB  in national development, "she said.

The former Deans of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA), Prof. Dr. Ir. Barizi, Prof. Anwar Nur, Prof. A.A Mattjik, Dr. Siswadi, and Prof. Yonny Koesmaryono were there to grace the occassion. (Wied).
