During his visit to Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), German Ambassador, Dr. Norbert Baas and Counselor of Science, Technology & Environment, Klaus Michael Rottman said that the price of gasoline (premium) is four times more expensive in Germany than in Indonesia. Unlike the people of Indonesia, the Germans do not get subsidies– the fuel price per liter can vary from 1.6 to 1.7 euros, or about 24 thousand dollars.

Both guests were welcome directly by IPB Rector, Prof. Dr.Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto, M.Sc accompanied by Director of International Cooperation and Program IPB, Dr. Rinekso Soekmadi in the Building of Andi Hakim Nasoetion, Darmaga Campus of IPB (19/4). Dr. Norbert intends to explore in-depth cooperation between IPB and universities in Germany, such as Gottingen University, Bremen University and Kassel University.

Meanwhile, Prof. Herry hopes for intensive cooperation related to biodiesel, biomedicine and biotechnology. "So far, IPB have formed a partnership with several universities in Germany in the field of Biology and Forestry. Therefore, I hope the collaboration can be directed to biodiesel, biomedicine and biotechnology. Why? Because of the abundant biodiversity of Indonesia and it is the three things that will develop in the future," he said.

Rector also hopes for reciprocal cooperation, i.e., if Indonesia (IPB) sends five students to Germany, then Germany should do so. Until now only the joint degree program has been around with the University of Gottingen in the field of agribusiness, in which as many as 10 students are sent to Germany with the fund from the Higher Education.
