The late Prof. Siswadhi Supardjo was the founder of the Department of Agricultural Mechanization, IPB. In the course of time, this department was then changed to Agricultural Engineering, and now it becomes the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Biosystems. The late Prof. Siswadhi was also the first dean of the Faculty of Agricultural Technology IPB. His works and roles are both nationally and internationally recognized, especially in agricultural mechanization.
Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, IPB, Dr. Sam Herodian expressed his impressions on the guidance by the late Prof. Siswadi. "He was very polite in giving guidance. It is from him that I have learned a lot of things. Now my position is similar to that of his the past position as Dean of Fateta IPB and Chairman of the Association of Agricultural Engineering Experts and Enthusiasts," said Dr. Sam Herodian.
Head of Department of Mechanical Engineering and Biosystems, Fateta IPB Dr. Desrial said that the plan to name this field laboratory for his name has been around for a long time thought. "At this time the plan is implemented as this laboratory has been growing rapidly with an area of ??4 hectares and become an important part of the Department of Mechanical Engineering and Biosystems rather than merely a supporting laboratory. The naming of this lab is expected to motivate us to make further progress," said Dr. Desrial. The Field Laboratory of Siswadhi Supardjo consists of Fishery Equipment and Machinery Laboratory, Metanium Workshop, Renewable Energy Laboratory, Gallery of Innovations and Technology, Laboratory of Green House and Experimental Garden. "We openly accept the public who want to take advantage of the field laboratory for various purposes particularly the breeding of plants and fish and so on," continued Dr. Desrial. (Mtd)
