BodyIPB’s Lecturer Gets a Social Service Award of Satya Lencana
Prof. Dr. Ir. Bintoro is the only lecturer of Bogor Agricultural University (IPB) who receives the Award of Satya Lencana Kebaktian Sosial (Social Service Award) for his services as blood donors more than 100 times. The award was given directly by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on December 13, 2011 at the Jakarta Convention Center. "Since 1978, I have donated blood 106 times to the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI). Nearly once in three months I donate blood to the Red Cross,” said Prof. Bintoro.
Prof. Bintoro said before being taken to Jakarta, 36 blood donors from Bogor were dispatched from the Town Hall by Bogor Mayor, Diani Budiarto. Then, the group were received and released by the Governor of West Java, Ahmad Heryawan. For two days the groups of West Java, together with all other groups throughout Indonesia stayed at Hotel Sahid. "We were welcomed there directly by Chairman of PMI, Jusuf Kalla. The next day we received the award," said Prof. Bintoro.
Of the 1,300 people receiving similar awards, 205 come from West Java. "West Java takes the third rank with the largest number of donors after the East Java and Jakarta," added Prof. Bintoro. Besides him, an IPB community member who gets another award is an IPB alumnus, drh (Vet). Memet Zulkarnaen Hasan. In addition to the award, Prof. Bintoro also gets a souvenir of a 4-gram gold ring, batik cloth from Bogor the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI), West Java Governor and the Minister of Health. Prof. Bintoro hopes this award will motivate the academic society to actively donate blood. (Mtd)
