Himakova Confirms IPB as the Campus of Biodiversity
Student Association of Forest Resources Conservation and Ecotourism (Himakova), Faculty of Forestry held an Expedition Seminar of Himakova 2011, on December. The seminar is to publish and introduce to the general public the results of two scientific exploration activities successfully implemented by Himakova this year. The two activities are Rafflesia (Exploration of Fauna, Flora and Ecotourism in Indonesia) conducted in February 2011 in the National Park of Mt. Halimun Salak, and Surili in the Kerinci Seblat National Park from July and August 201.
The activities with the theme "Urgency of Biodiversity in National Park Management in Indonesia" discussed the findings from the expedition of flora and fauna, ecotourism, and the role of local communities and government (collaborative management) in maintaining the existence of National Park area. This activity invited speakers from various parties and agencies engaged in conservation, including the parties TNGHS and TNKS, LIPI (Indonesian Institute of Sciences), Warsi (Information Conservation Forum) and BCI (Biodiversity Conservation Indonesia).
This activity received warm welcome and tremendous enthusiasm from various circles present in the seminar of Himakova on this occasion. They hope Himakova will always publish the results of exploration in the form of seminars each year. This seminar also plays an important role in confirming IPB that was recently launched as a campus of biodiversity. "A similar activity is expected to run again as an effort to prepare the academic community of IPB toward a comprehensive campus of biodiversity." said Arya Arismaya, chairman of this event.
