The Promotion of Three Female Faculty Members for Their Professor Chairs at Bogor Agricultural University

Bogor Agriculture Institute (IPB) has confirmed the three professors for its University. The promotion was part of series program for the 48th Anniversary of the University, held  at the  Grha Widya Wisuda,  Campus Darmaga, Saturday,  29 October 2011. Those three female professors who had been promoted recently were Prof.Dr.Ir. Rina Oktaviani, MS, from the Department of Economics, Faculty of Economics and Management, Prof.Dr.Ir. Ani Suryani,  DEA, from the Department of Agriculture Industrial Technology, Faculty of Agriculture and Technology, and  Prof.Dr.drh. Clara M. Kusharto of the Department of Community Nutrition, Faculty of Human Ecology.

On their scientific orations,  Prof. Ani presented her Oratiton on “Rekayasa Proses Hasil Pertanian dalam Rangka Diversifikasi Fungsi Produk dan Peningkatan Nilai Tambahnya (Engineering Process in the Framework of Agricultural Diversification of  Function Products to Improve its Added Value);  Prof. Clara on “Tantangan dan Intervensi Gizi pada Keadaan Krisis Pangan Global” (Challenges and Nutritional Interventions on the Global Food Crisis); and  Prof. Rina on  FTA dan Daya Saing Industri Pertanian Indonesia dalam Menghadapi Krisis Ekonomi Global’’ (FTA and Industrial Competitiveness in Indonesian Agriculture Towards the Global Economic Crisis)’.
 
So far I have implemented  of 11 (eleven) research titles on the process engineering which I have been dealing with as to contribute to the development this discipline. Based on the analysis of the potential and prospects, I have concluded that those  engineer  processes of agricultural transformation products are  classified into three groups, namely: First, the products of the transformation that have been commercialized; Second, the products of the transformation that are  ready for production; Third, the products of transformation itgs that products are ready to be tested for  a larger scale, "said Prof.Ani.

Prof. Clara in her oration she presented the variety of diversified food products to improve people’s nutrition, especially  for children. "These products include nutrient biscuits  enriched by fish flour of African catfish (Clarias biscuits), crackers enriched by soy flour (Nourishing Crackers), mulberry tea, and flour pupae Pury of silkworm pupae waste," explains Prof. Clara.
 
While Prof. Rina in her  oration she delivered that increasing the competitiveness of the Indonesian agricultural industry is needed towards the implementation of  FTA, especially towards the global economic crisis. "Technological innovation is really needed to improve the competitiveness due to the stagnation of the previous agricultural processing industry. In addition, diversification of export markets and export commodities are also perceived as to be higly prioritized to reduce the dependence of the developed countries which mostly affected by the global economic crisis, "explained Prof.Rina.

On the other interview, the Head of Public Relations and Protocol, Ir. Henny Windarti, M.Si, The scientific orations of  three new professors on the same occassion is the new of its kind at the University, and this new tradition be developed by IPB. "Currently  the University has set that the organization of scientific oration for newly confirmed professor will always cincludensisted of  three professors. This policy is intended to increase efficiency and to improve the contents of scientific oration, "said Henny. According to Henny with the promotion has added the total number of professor of Bogor Agricultural University into 180 (one hundered eighty) who are consisted of  30 (thirthy) emiritus  and 150 (hundered fifty)  active professors.
