New Instruments of Environmental Management

Center for Environmental Research (PPLH) under the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) IPB introduced four new instruments for environmental management in a seminar titled "Familiarizing New Paradigm and Instruments of Environmental Management” on Thursday (20/10) in IPB International Convention Center (IICC), Bogor. The fourth instruments are Environmental Economy, Strategic Environmental Assessment (KLHS), Environmental Audits and Environmental Risk Analysis.

The speakers on the four instruments are respectively Ir. Laksmi Dhewanthi, MA (Assistant Deputy for Environmental Economic Affairs Ministry of Environment-KLH), Dr. Sofyan Bakar, M. Sc (Director of Spatial Planning and Environment Facilities Ministry of Home Affairs), Ir. Rustiawan Anis, M. Si (Independent Environmental Services Professional, Environmental Auditor), and Ir. Ary Sudijanto, MSE (Deputy Assistant for Environmental Impact Assessment KLH).

"All of the four instruments are newly introduced at the level of environmental legislation. The would apparently become the instruments that must be applied in the environmental management," said Head of PPLH LPPM IPB, Dr. Murtilaksono firm

Dr. Kukuh explains further that the understanding of the four instruments is still diverse. This is because there are no detailed instructions yet concerning the new environmental instruments
.
"For that reason, we held a seminar aimed to introduce the four new instruments and explain to environmental stakeholders the measures being taken by the government in the elaboration of the environmental instruments so that people can participate more actively," said Dr. Kukuh, accompanied Executive Secretary of PPLH LPPM IPB, Dr. Hefni Effendi.

The seminar, officially opened by Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs Prof. IPB Yonny Koesmaryono, was attended by environmental stakeholders throughout Indonesia (Mtd)
