Division of Women’s Studies Center PSP3 LPPM IPB again held an event involving its partners from Bogor town, Regencies of Bogor, Cianjur and Sukabumi, on Thursday (15 / 9) in the PSP3 Meeting Room, Baranangsiang Campus of IPB. It is the collaboration between the Division of PSW IPB and the Directorate of Community Education Assistantship, Directorate General of Non-Formal and Informal Early Childhood Education, Ministry of National Education.
The event with the theme "Training of Trainers (ToT) Treatment and Prevention of Crime and Human Trafficking" was officially opened by Head of LPPM (Institute of Research and Community Services) IPB Prof. Dr. Bambang Pramudya.
"The activity, initiated by the Division of PSW PSP3 LPPM IPB, shows that a campus does not only produce graduates but also pays attention to the surrounding environment. Therefore, hopefully it can bring many benefits to wider community", said Prof. Bambang.
Head of PSW PSP3 LPPM IPB, Dr. Ttik Sumarti, MS., cites one study that found crimes in human trafficking in the period 2005-2009, in West Java Province were in the top rank with 794 cases. The crime figure of West Java has a big contribution from Cianjur District, Bogor Regency, and Bogor municipality.
"We took those three towns and regencies as working partners in the treatment and prevention of human trafficking because it is evident that violence and human trafficking remains a strategic issue in the regions," added Dr. Titik
This ToT was very dynamic involving the case presented by one resource person, dr. Supalarto Sudibyo, MP, a trafficking expert from the Ministry of Women Empowerment and Child Protection.
In his presentation, dr. Supalarto advised that we be careful in understanding trafficking. He pointed out that not all migrant workers with problems or children who are made beggars are part of trafficking. "A case can be said to be trafficking if the process, means and goals are met. For example, in the recruitment process there is an element of threat aimed for organ transplant or the like", he explained.
Other speakers were Head of the Social Development Bureau, Regional Secretary of West Java Province, Dr. Nenny Kencanawati; Head of Women’s Empowerment Division of KBPP Sukabumi Dra. Elis Muslimah, MM; and Division Head of Migration, Trafficking and HIV / AIDS Women’s Solidarity, Taufik Zulbahary. (Nm)
