Graduation of Diploma IPB
A total of 803 graduates of IPB Diploma Education Program, Wednesday (20 / 7,) were inaugurated at Graha Widya Wisuda (GWW) Campus Darmaga of IPB Bogor. Now they have become part of the IPB alumni who have reached 102,048 people.
In this graduation the Diploma Program of IPB managed to produce graduates with the best achievement, namely, Rury Tamiella Fatin and Ismy Agustin, each of whom graduates with the GPA of 4:00. Rury is a graduate specializing Agribusiness Management, and Ismy is of Seed Technology and Science.
Rury is interested in agribusiness management because he thinks the graduates of this program have the expertise in managing agribusiness in agriculture, livestock, and fishery independently.
Meanwhile Ismy, who is interested in Seed Technology, hopes to apply her knowledge to the world of seed. "I do not want Indonesian farmers to depend on imported seeds," she said.
Also in this graduation there turned out some graduates who had already been absorbed in the working world before they officially graduated. Edward, for example, a student of the 45th batch in the Ecotourism Program, is reported working as a Consultant for Finance Management and Investment Corporate in Jakarta.
With only the Letter of Graduation (SKL) and expertise in knowledge and skill, Edward managed to persuade the company’s management to recruit him as an employee of such a prestigious company. "To work in a finance corporation, I believe everyone can do it, because basically everyone is able to count money," he said modestly.
But behind all this, Edward claims that a lot of knowledge he got from the college assisted him when applying for the job. Although his major expertise gained from the college is not inline with the current job, some points from in the lectures such as office and design strengthen the performance of Edward.
Is it possible to get a job before graduation?
According to the Coordinator of Information Management of Diploma Program of IPB Dr. Ir. Muhammad Syamsun, M.Sc., the success of the students in getting a job before graduation is because their competence is considered to have met the requirements of the company where they work.
In the Program of Information Management, for example, the competencies built from the beginning such as the ability to build information systems and manage the network are a clear example of those absorbed in the labor market from the human resources of Diploma IPB. This, says Dr. Syamsun, cannot be separated from the guidance of the teaching staff that constantly implants it.
In line with Dr. Syamsun, Coordinator of Ecotourism Program Heliyanthi Dewi, S. Hut, M.Sc., said the education staff always instills courage to move out of Java. Moreover, he acknowledges, ecotourism in the urban area is no longer promising. Eco-tourism is greatly potential outside Java. It is also evident from their final report that explores the potential of ecotourism outside.
"We also implant the fundamentals of tourism in general so that they can flexibly move. Because if they learn the ecotourism only, upon entering the world of employment they will have difficulties." said Heliyanthi. (Mtd)
