Fadel Muhammad and Rector of IPB Talk on Megaminapolitan
Minapolitan concept has long been conceived and was born by Bogor Agricultural University. This concept kept rolling and now it has reorganized to be "megaminapolitan". The word "mega" which is attached to "Minapolitan" means the fundamental awareness to change something from one small idea, Minapolitan, which should be kept develop and grow. This was stated by the Rector of IPB, Prof. Dr. Ir. Herry Suhardiyanto, M.Sc. when he was invited as the guest speaker in talk show on "Megaminapolitan" which was held in the arena Agrinex 2011 in Jakarta Convention Center (JCC), on 4 March 2011. Prof. Suhardiyanto insisted that we should contribute to the development of this Megaminapolitan. In terms of human resources (HR) we will plan to train various courses for related officers such as for businessmen, as well as for those who will implement various research program and development in this field. Prof. Suhardiyanto also mentioned the importance of infrastructure, connectivity, regulations and incentives
systems. There should be program to produce fisheries entrepreneurs rapidly .
Prof. Suhardiyanto is confident that no contraints will encounter the realization of megaminapolitan ideas. "Whichever a thousand of fisheries graduates meet to form a new business entity of upstream and downstream direct relationships, accordingly, regulations, and involvement of the bureaucracy (such as local government), and financial institutions such as banks will be very important, "he explained. He also criticized that it is not only synergy required, but convergence. Further he stated, that synergy often become the fighting arena between related agencies, and yet they forget the interests of the larger society they should serve. "National Convergence is therefore necessary to unify the various forces that we have. Convergence need strong leadership, a consistent regulatory system, as well as a conducive investment climate, "he said.
Meanwhile, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, Mr. Fadel Muhammad, who was also invited to be speakers pointed out, national entrepreneurs should be the host in their own country. Do not let imported products destroy our local products in our country. Therefore we must build a strong entrepreneurship, especially in the field of fisheries and marine. According to Fadel, Minapolitan and Megapolitan will become important the soil land to develop the Indonesian people to achieve its prosperity. "The idea of megaminapolitan is important for the development of tremendous potential of fisheries for the eastern region of Indonesia," he said. (Wied).
