A total of 75 teams, consisting of 38 innovation development teams and 37 startup teams, received funding and mentoring through the IPB 2026 Batch 1 Promoting Research and Innovation through Modern and Efficient Science and Technology Parks Project (PRIME STeP). This program serves as a step to accelerate the commercialization of research results and the development of technology based startups within the IPB University community.

On Tuesday (6/9), the grant recipients attended a Contract Signing Ceremony and a Workshop on the Preparation of Action Plans, Outputs, and Budget Plans (RAB), held at the IPB International Convention Center in Bogor.

The Rector of IPB University, Dr Alim Setiawan Slamet, emphasized that the signing of the contract symbolizes a commitment among the institution, researchers, and startups to deliver innovations that have a tangible impact on society.

According to him, research outcomes generated on campus must be able to be transformed into useful and sustainable products, technologies, or business models.

“Research originating from the campus deserves to become a product, deserves to become a business, and deserves to have an impact on the nation and the country,” the Rector stated in his remarks. He added that this grant is not the end goal, but rather a form of trust that must be realized through tangible work and measurable achievements.

To ensure the program’s success, IPB University is providing ecosystem support through the Institute for Agromaritime Development and Innopreneurship Acceleration (LPA2I).

In addition to providing funding, IPB University also offers business mentoring, access to industry networks, intellectual property protection, and other supporting facilities to ensure that innovations can progress to the commercialization stage.

Dr Handian Purwawangsa, Chairman of LPA2I at IPB University, stated that the selection process for the PRIME STeP-STP IPB 2026 Batch 1 has yielded the best proposals and startups with significant potential for further development.

“Out of dozens of innovation proposals and hundreds of startup applicants who participated in the selection, only the best participants were given the opportunity to receive funding and mentoring. This demonstrates IPB’s commitment to ensuring that every grant awarded can generate optimal impact,” he said.

He also emphasized that securing a grant is not the end of the journey, but rather the beginning of a long process to turn ideas into tangible solutions. Therefore, each team is expected to develop a focused work plan, implement good governance, and make optimal use of the available mentoring.

During the Workshop on Developing Action Plans, Outputs, and Budget Estimates, participants were provided with materials on financial management, reporting, tax aspects of grant funds, the accountable use of program funds, and reporting procedures via i-plan.

Dr Roza Yusfiandayani, serving as the moderator, reminded participants, particularly researchers, to adhere to financial regulations, internal audit procedures, and the timely preparation of financial reports. “Each team is expected to develop an implementation plan that is measurable, realistic, and aligned with the targeted outcomes,” she added.

Through this program, synergy among researchers, startups, industry, and institutions is expected to accelerate the commercialization of research outcomes, create competitive startups, and make a tangible contribution to economic development and public welfare. (*/Rz) (IAAS/EXC)
