Working and Doing a Business at the Same Time? No Problem!

Ahmad Iman in the General Lecture ‘Career Preparation for Pre-Graduation of Bachelor Degree’. This activity was organized by the Directorate of Career Development and Alumni Relations, Bogor Agricultural University (DPKHA-IPB), Monday (18/11) in Darmaga campus of IPB, Bogor.
The general lecture presented three speakers: Director of PT. Multi Azam Sejahtera, Ir. H. Iman Ahmad; President Director of PT. Riset Perkebunan Indonesia (RPN), Dr.Ir. Didiek Hajar Goenadi and owner of PT. Mitra Tani Farm, Budi Setiawan Susilo, S.Pt.
Some questions came out from a student who would be inaugurated on Wednesday (20/11), related to the options of taking a job or self-employment or taking both? The three speakers agreed that having a career by working for others while doing one’s own business is a better choice rather than either doing a career only or doing a business only. "But there are conditions and there should be a priority. If you are still studying in a college and doing a business, then the study in the college should be a top priority. And managing the business is the next priority," said Budi Susilo.
A similar view is also from Achmad Iman. According to him, the choice of working while managing a business is the best option, on the condition that you must be able to manage time and make some sacrifice. "If you want to earn more, then you should be self-employed by managing a business and there must be something to sacrifice, for example, time," Achmad said.
Meanwhile, Dr. Didiek in his speech advised IPB students who will go into the new world or the world of jobs. "First, you should be able to develop yourselves. Second, have a spirit or courage to achieve the best results, work hard, never give up and use the technology to get a sustainable advantage," said Didiek.
